Hinge-knot field fences are the most commonly used and affordable type. A hinge joint is formed by wrapping a vertical wire around a horizontal wire at each intersection. This spring-like knot will provide maximum elasticity to absorb the energy of the most violent impacts and spring back to its original shape. When stress is applied to the fence with livestock, the hinge joint provides the necessary flexibility to allow movement without breaking the wires.
